Make Moving Fun For Kids

When you count the most difficult move and removal situations, you cannot boast of a comprehensive list if you have not included moving with children. The hassle of finding professional and cheap removal companies is already too much. This is eventually doubled when you are handling kids while moving. You spend a lot of time making them understand everything about the move and answering lots of questions in the process, coupled with trying to take them out from harm's way.
There are many ways to make your London house moving a great fun for the children. By so doing, you will take away more than half of the stress witnessed when moving with kids. You have to start by getting their minds properly disposed for the move. You can do this by getting them involved in the move especially during the planning process but also involve them in some of the moving day tasks. You can take your kids along with you when you go house hunting. However, this should be towards the end of the exercise. When you have mapped out the houses to consider and have narrowed it down to few, you can now take your kids to the homes. You may take them around the property, showing them their potential rooms and allowing them to run around the backyards and to draw the room when you leave the place. When you do, you can even allow them to choose the house they prefer. This will let you know what they think and feel about moving to a new home. When you involve them this way, they will anticipate the move even more than you and will be ready to adapt as soon as you get to the new home.

Involving kids in moving tasks

When you allow them to get involved in any of the house moving activity, they feel happy under the belief that there is something in it for them. Now, you have to start by allowing them to sort their rooms. The fact is that moving house is always a time to de-clutter when moving house. So, you have to allow your kids to sort their belongings and pick out the ones they still need, those they would like to discard and those they will like to donate to their friends. By so doing, the excitement that they are moving to a new home builds.
You should also involve them in the main packing process according to their age. While you may allow the teenagers to help in packing most of the rooms especially theirs, the younger ones may take care of the books, toys, towels and other things they cannot damage when packing or carrying them around. If you are organizing a garage sell, you must involve them. While the older ones may take care of the paintings and coloring of the flyers for the sale, the younger ones can help in putting the price tags on some of the items with specific prices, or you can find any other thing to get them engaged. Just make sure that they are involved in the entire activity. Again, when it is the moving day, the older kids must get a job. Yes, because of the nature of the moving day and its environment, you may leave the younger babies in the hands of the babysitters. But this is not same with the grown kids. These should have the pleasure of packing or carrying the boxes, cleaning of parts of the house that has been moved, taking care of the pet (in case you are moving with pets) or labeling of the boxes.
Before you leave your current location, you can also give the kids the task of creating a contact book where they will line the addresses and phone numbers of all their friends for easy contact. Moving away from friends doesn't have to mean your kids have to loose contact with they best friends. You can cap it all up with a family night. It's not all about the tedious nature of packing and moving. Even within these hassles, you can arrange a family night where you can play family games, have a leisure outing to the beach or park or watch a movie together to replenish and get ready for the move. This is ideal on the night before the move. Make sure the trip itself is a very pleasurable one filled with lots of fun. You can lighten it up with lots of road trip games and some of their favorite snacks. Also insure that you have a blanket and a pillow in case any of your kids wants to sleep on transit. You may even help by buying a moving book for them to read. There are many kids books about moving that will keep them busy all through the move.
You can make the moving day much more fun for your children by packing in some surprises into their moving boxes. You can buy a new toy or new sandals for their first day in school. And talking about school, ask them what they like about the new school, what they will miss about the old school and what they will like to use in celebrating their first day at the new school. You should allow them to learn about the new school with you. You can talk to their new teacher and get the teacher to meet your kids before school resumption. Shy kids should be taught new skills.
